1st July 09 - Ronaldo Deal Done
Manchester United have confirmed that the deal with Madrid has been concluded and Real have deposited the £80million in cash into United's bank account. The player is expected to be unveiled at the Bernabeu on July 6th in front of fans and the press.

Alex Ferguson took the opportunity to break his silence on the deal to talk about Ronaldo, he went on to say "Cristiano has been a marvellous player for Manchester United. His six years at Old Trafford have seen him develop into the best footballer in the world.

"His contribution has been a major factor in the club's success in that time and his talent, his ability to entertain and his infectious personality have enthralled fans the world over. "Everyone here wishes him well in his future career."

22nd June 09 - Ronaldo deal to be done by June 30th
The world record transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid will be completed by the end of the month. His agent has come out today and stated that Cristiano has not spoken to the media or given any interviews since Manchester United accepted the bid. He also states that any newspaper, particularly those in England, have been making up false quotes and they are not to be taken seriously. It seems Ronaldo will wait until he is officially unveiled before he speaks about his switch to La Liga.

11th June 09 - Man Utd accept £80 million bid for Ronaldo
Manchester United have finally decided to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid and have accepted a world record unconditional offer of £80m. The world player of the year has been the subject of constant speculation after coming close to leaving last year only for Sir Alex to put his foot down. Now with another summer of unrest and media frenzy it seems Fergie is ready to cut him loose. Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to play for Madrid and the move is now down to the player agreeing terms.


27th May 09 - Champions League Final
Manchester United have lost the Champions League Final 2-0 against Barcelona in Rome. Samuel Eto opened the scoring after 10 minutes and Lionel Messi's header wrapped up the victory in the second half. Highlights of the game below.


17th May 09 - Man Utd 0-0 Arsenal
Cristiano Ronaldo has got his hands on another Premier League title at the end of another impressive campaign for the Portuguese star. Ron has scored 18 league goals and 26 in all competitions, making him the current top scorer in the Premier League with one match still to be played. No doubt the summer will bring further speculation over the players future especially as Real Madrid have there rather public presidential race. But that's a topic for another day as Ron celebrates with the team who have worked so hard over the course of the season and can now begin thinking about Barcelona.


10th May 09 - Man Utd 2-0 Man City
Cristiano Ronaldo scored one of his trade mark free kicks as Manchester United beat there local rivals 2-0 at Old Trafford. United moved back above Liverpool to the top of the Premier League with a 3 point cushion and a game in hand. Ronaldo opened the scoring on 18 minutes and Carlos Tevez got the second just before half time.


15th April 09 - Porto 0-1 Man Utd
Manchester United progressed to the semi finals of the Champions League 3-2 on aggregate. United conceded a late equalizer in the 2-2 1st leg draw at Old Trafford and have become the first English side to beat Porto away from home. Cristiano Ronaldo's 35 yard rocket flew into the top left hand corner, a spectacular goal even by his standards.


28th March 09 - Portugal 0-0 Sweden
Portugal's poor form in there World Cup Qualifying campaign continued with a goalless draw at home to Sweden. The result leaves the Portuguese four points behind Hungary and Denmark with the later having a game in hand. Portugal have won just one match from there first five group games and there World Cup dream could be over before it has begun.


5th March 09 - Newcastle 1-2 Man Utd
Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in altercation with Newcastle's Steven Taylor in the tunnel at half time. Rio Ferdinand was booked for his furious reaction to Steven Taylor's challenge on Cristiano that left Portuguese ace in a heap on the floor. Ronaldo and Taylor exchanged insults in the tunnel. That was a small blemish on an otherwise excellent night for the Old Trafford side. United are now seven points clear with a game in hand at the top of Premier League. Goals from Rooney and Berbatov cancelled out Lovenkrands opener.

2nd March 09 - Man Utd: Carling Cup Winners
Manchester United won the Carling Cup on penalties after failing to break down Tottenham's defense. Cristiano Ronaldo struck the post in injury time before the match went to extra time. United won the penalty shoot 4-1 and lifted there first major trophy of the season.


19th February 09 - Man Utd 3-0 Fulham
Manchester United were in fine form again last night with a comfotable 3-0 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford. Ronaldo played the whole match for United as goals from Scholes, Berbatov and Rooney sealed the win.

2nd February 09 - Ronaldo Back On Form
Cristiano Ronaldo is finding his form again after a slow start to the season following his return after ankle surgery. Cristiano scored 2 goals in the 5-0 demolishion of West Brom and scored the penalty to take three points off Everton in a 1-0 win. Ronaldo went on to say "we are top of the league and the lads are playing very well. "I am happy with my season, but the most important thing is the team and I want to carry on helping."


12th January 09 - Ronaldo: World Player Of The Year
Cristiano Ronaldo was tonight crowned world player of the year, the first time the award has gone to a footballer plying there trade in England. Ronaldo who finished ahead of Messi in second and Torres in third described the award "as a dream come true". It ends a year which has seen the Portuguese star win the Premiership, Champions League and the World Club Championship with Manchester United.

He said: "It is an overwhelming moment, it is a dream come true and I would like to dedicate this to my family. I'm extremely happy, it's one of the most important moments in my life and I hope I can come back here again. After what I did in 2008, to receive this award is amazing and I feel very proud of this achievement.

"But it's also true that the manager always has an important role to play. It was a great season for me and for my club, and the coach was important for me because I learned a lot for him. His experience over so many years is of paramount importance - it's a privilege to have such a great club manager. This is the climax of a fantastic era for me. I'm happy and proud about what has been done by my team and what we have won. I am lucky to to be part of the history of a club like Manchester United."

The award rounds off a great couple of days for Ronaldo after United's 3-0 win over title rivals Chelsea.

8th January 09 - Ronaldo Crashes Sports Car
Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in a collision with a barrier in a tunnel near Manchester airport today at 10.20am. Cristiano escaped with no injuries but his Ferrari has reportedly been written off as a result of the incident. A club spokesman said: "He was involved in an incident this morning. No other cars were involved. He's fine and is training as normal with the team this morning."


26th December 08 - Stoke 0 Manchester United 1
Cristiano Ronaldo was given his customary reception when United play away and was subjected to boos and jeers fro the home support. Ronaldo's best chance of the game was from a free kick but the wall stood strong. Ronaldo was on the receiving end of a tackle from behind that led to Wilkinson's second booking and reduced the home side to ten men. Carlos Tevez finished the Potters off and gave United a valuable three points.

26th November 08 - Villarreal 0 Manchester United 0
Cristiano Ronaldo was centre stage again as he felt the full force of Villarreal's combative defending. The Portuguese winger left the field at the end of the match with cuts to his ankle and Capdevila was sent off as a result of a high tackle on him with seven minutes to go. Man Utd booked there place in the next round of the Champions League after this hard fought point.

Cristiano Ronaldo is to begin talks with Manchester United over a new contract, according to the player's representatives. After helping guide Manchester United to a memorable Premier League and Champions League double, Portuguese trickster Cristiano Ronaldo was continuously linked with a move to La Liga victors Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo has won his first major award for player of the year as voted for by his fellow players from 40 countries around the world. Ronaldo is tipped to win a whole host of individual awards this year after his phenomenal 42 goal haul helping United win the Premiership and Champions League last season.
