18th August 08 - Man Utd 1-1 Newcastle
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the season. Ronaldo who is still sidelined after his ankle surgery in the summer and Tevez who flew back to Argentina for family reasons left United's attack looking a bit weak. Wayne Rooney returned after the virus he picked up in pre-season but was lacking match sharpness. Man Utd will be hoping Ronaldo gets his boots back on sooner rather than latter on the back of this performance. Obafemi Martins scored a header for Newcastle after being given too much space in the penalty box but Darren Fletcher popped up a minute later to bring the scores level. Video of the goals below.

6th August 08 - New Season Nearly Upon Us
Well the new season is nearly here and Cristiano Ronaldo's flirting with Real Madrid was met with staunch opposition from Sir Alex Ferguson and the United board. Ronaldo who is still under contract until 2012 (although you would never have thought it given all the speculation in the summer) will be staying at Old Trafford for another season at least. Cristiano underwent ankle surgery earlier in the summer which could keep him out of action until October. The drawn out Cristiano Ronaldo saga looks to be coming to a close as the Glazers have been reported as saying they are resigned to losing there star player. Ronaldo himself has refused to commit his future to the European Champions and it appears he could get his wish. Sir Alex Ferguson will be only too aware that keeping a player against his will could disrupt the harmony in the United camp. Real Madrid will be forced to fork out a record transfer fee believed to be in the region of £60 million to prise the hottest property in world football away from Old Trafford.
